My toddler suddenly hates daycare. Why?

Up until now he probably didn't have an awareness that there was an option to stay home. Now he had the opportunity to do so and with none other than Grandma! How much fun! What he is saying is that given the choice he rather be home with his family. Keep being gentle with him and soon he will be back on track and as the visit with grandma becomes a fleeting memory.
